How to play Krillion
- 7 prompts a day, the same for every player.
- 25 seconds to name one thing that fits each prompt.
- Rare answers score big: each answer lands in a tier from Plankton (10 points) to One in a Krillion (100) — see the full scoring table.
- Every point sinks you 10 metres. 700 points is a perfect dive — 7,000 m, the trench floor.
- One dive per day — no second chances on the daily.
Rules as shown in the game's own "how to play" panel.
How scoring and rarity work
Each prompt has an answer set built by merging sources such as dictionaries, wiki pages and encyclopedias. How rare your answer is depends on the prompt: some are scored against a familiarity database that tracks how often a word or name appears in writing, others use AI-assisted rarity plus manual review.
Each prompt also has a featured answer, "the Krillion". It isn't simply the rarest answer — past a certain depth rarity is hard to tell apart, so the pick also considers how satisfying it is to land on, and aims for something at least a few players actually get.
If your answer isn't accepted, it isn't necessarily wrong — the answer set may have missed a source.

Tips for diving deeper
- Skip your first thought. If it came to you instantly, it probably came to most players too — and it will float.
- Beware the "too clever" pick. The go-to "obscure" answer everyone reaches for scores only 15 points — what "too clever" means.
- Go one level more specific. A sub-type, regional variant or lesser-known member of a category is usually rarer than the category's famous examples.
- Lean on your own niche. Hobbies, home region or job vocabulary are where you know things others don't.
- Keep it valid. 25 seconds is short — a rare answer only counts if it is actually in the answer set, so don't gamble on made-up spellings.
- Practice in Unlimited and Archive before your daily attempt, since the daily gives you only one try.
